Barb Mitchell, Founder
Barb studied at University of Alberta, Mount Royal University and is an Associate Teacher with Royal Conservatory and Conservatory Canada. She is performer, composer, arranger, and teacher ,.Her teaching studio is a place where people come to learn , but stay connected for years all rooted in their love of music.
As the creative force behind Occasional Notes , "out the of box" " sky's the limit" and "larger than life" are a part of her everyday thoughts.
Laurie Parente, Founder
Laurie has a degree from the University of Calgary and studied with the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Laurie has worked as a church musician and as an accompanist. Laurie enjoys contemporary music and is deeply influenced by her classical roots.
Laurie is the practical side of Occasional Notes and loves to make sure that all of the details of an event are presented to perfection.
As little girls, Barb and Laurie sat for hours on their piano benches banging away on the keys. Little did they know, that one day their passions for music would bring them together in one of the most rewarding endeavors.
Marketing and Event Manager
Olivia is going into the fourth year of her BBA-Marketing Degree at Mount Royal University. Longterm, she intends to get into Marketing and Event Coordination/Management.
Olivia has always had a love for music and found her connection to it through her competitive figure skating background. Currently, Olivia is a NCCP Regional Coach and teaches figure skating, learn to skate, power skating and hockey buddy programs throughout the city.
Olivia is the most recent addition to the Occasional Notes Team! Barb and Laurie refer to her as “their third brain” as she assists with the social media, website, marketing, advertising and event management for the company.
