Impacting peoples lives with music since 2007

Occasional Notes Productions was born 12 years ago when Barb and Laurie started playing for weddings as a piano duo. Both being piano teachers, their students began to get married and Barb and Laurie looked for a way to contribute to their special day. With two digital pianos and a sound system, they provided the musical entertainment at their student’s weddings. They fell in love with being a part of such special moments and began playing weddings all over the city. Occasional Notes performed in Churches, Restaurants, Banquet Halls, Parks and even Mountain Tops!

As their talent was recognized and the duo gained traction, they moved into the corporate world playing for company functions. Slowly, they began to add vocalists and instrumentalists to the mix, expanding their musical horizons. With Barb and Laurie’s popularity growing, they began referring musicians out to perform for weddings and corporate events on their own, representing Occasional Notes Productions.

With their artists out at events, Barb and Laurie had time to pursue their passion for writing and producing musicals. In Fall 2015, they created their first production, and released “If the Shoe Fits”, a show focused on women empowerment. After it’s success, the flood gates opened for multiple other projects.

Since then, Occasional Notes Productions has continued to develop “If the Shoe Fits”, Co-written ZooStreet which is now an incorporated company, created the Candy Cane Kids Show, produced the Decade Experience Band and more! While continuing to promote local musicians for corporate events, weddings, fundraising events and team building, Occasional Notes Productions now holds a prominent place in Calgary as the “go-to”  entertainment company.

Our favourite thing to do has always been to provide quality musicians and entertainment for all types of events. It is so rewarding to introduce audiences of all ages to wonderful musical experiences.
