The Decade Experience - Rise Up YYC

There is nothing like the energy of music that brings back memories. Memories like driving alone for the first time after passing your driving exam, your first kiss , high school grad song, falling in love ,being dumped by the love of your life, birth of a child, your first dance, your wedding song, a song your Grandpa used to sing to you.

What song was playing on the car radio, what song was the band playing at your high school dance? What song were you singing with your friends at the best party of your life? The Decade Experience is about remembering those moments . September 30th at The Palace Theatre in Calgary, we will be stepping back in time, performing some of the best songs  of the past.

The show opens with the sound of Motown - the music that changed America

As an irresistible force of social and cultural change, Berry Gordy’s legendary Motown made its mark not just on the music industry, but society at large, with a sound that has become one of the most significant musical accomplishments and stunning success stories of the 20th century. No other record company in history has exerted such an enormous influence on both the style and substance of popular music and culture. Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, the Temptations, the Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson & the Jackson 5, the Marvelettes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, and Gladys Knight & the Pips all born in the 60’s to the Motown sound.

In the summer of 1964, Motown released "Where Did Our Love Go?” sung by one of the most adored girl groups of all time and THAT was only the beginning. The music of The Supremes paved the way for women in music and became one of the most adored Motown groups of all time
